Wayne Francis

Francis, Wayne May 21, 1939 – January 8, 2026

It is with great sorrow that the family wish to announce the passing of a father, brother, uncle and friend, Wayne Francis in Elliot Lake, Ontario on Thursday January 8, 2026 at the age of 86. Wayne will be fondly missed by his sons Gerald (Debbie), Mark (Raquel) and was predeceased by his son Kevan. He is survived by his sister Sharon Woo and was predeceased by his brother Larry. Wayne spent most of his life enjoying the outdoors during his career with the Ministry of Natural Resources. He also enjoyed taxidermy, scuba diving, bottle collecting and always appreciated the stories from his antiques collection. Wayne had many talents; among them, painting and carving, letting nature guide his sculpting. Wayne would also enjoy being inspired by the shape of a tree stump and carving it to life. Many of his carvings hold a special place in people’s lives, such as a walking stick, cane or sculptures. Museums also have been brought to life with his sculptures. Wayne continued to enjoy the outdoors past his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Even when taking his morning coffee and enjoying a chat with his son, his favorite spots were where he could enjoy the calmness of nature. Wayne was loved by many. Even though we know that he is now in the loving arms of the Saviour, the presence of his gentle touch and kindness will forever be missed. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place.
